After defending some of her new ideas from the staff's withering critique, Maya is asked to arrange a birthday party for Nina. Although she's planning to celebrate with her wealthy boyfriend Marvin, Nina agrees to attend. And not expecting to be there for long, Maya arranges to meet Wally, who's just been dumped by his latest girlfriend. Meanwhile, when he bets that Elliott couldn't get a date if forced to claim he's a shampoo boy at a discount hair salon, Finch's hopes of making some easy money are dashed when the stranger he chooses for their wager turns out to work at a cut-rate salon, too. Following Jack's brief appearance at the party, Maya is the only one left to help Nina celebrate. After a few drinks make her late for meeting Wally, she reminds Nina that they both have plans and calls to apologize to her despondent roommate.
